This is a Princess style Rotary dial desk telephone "Salesman Sample" from the 1960's-1970's. It was used by telephone employees including telephone repair employees as a sales tool to show customers both the Princess Style as well as the other colors available. This Style would cost the customer an additional monthly amount. This is the 1st Western Electric telephone which was given a Name Vs. a Number. They had a Contest and had a total of 300 different Name submissions and they decided on the word, "Princess". It has the Motto, "It's Little, It's Lovely, It Lights" because you could light up the center dial like a night light at night and light up the room. Every little girl wanted this style telephone in their bedroom. It was the Most Popular telephone Western Electric made in both the Rotary Dial as well as the Touchtone Dial. Longer handset cords also cost more. Measures 4 3/8" long x 2 3/4" wide x 2 1/2" tall.
